What is a custom domain?
It's your own web address, like rosasbakehouse.com, instead of a free address on a website builder's subdomain. People remember it more easily, and it's yours even if you move your site somewhere else later.
What's the difference between a domain and web hosting?
The domain is the address people type. Hosting is the server that sends your site to them when they visit that address. CodeDesign hosts your site for you, so the domain is the only thing you buy.
How do I get a free domain?
Choose an annual website plan. It includes a free .com for the first year, and you pick the name from your dashboard. After that first year it renews at the regular yearly price.
Can I buy a .ai domain and build a website in the same place?
Yes. Search for it, buy it and connect it to your site without leaving CodeDesign. You don't need a separate registrar or host.
How do I generate a website from a domain search?
Search for the name and buy it. Then describe your business to the AI website builder and connect the new domain to the site it makes. CodeDesign sets up the DNS for you.
What if the domain I want is taken?
Try another ending, like .co or .net, or add a word about what you do or where you are. The free AI Domain Name Generator is useful here too: describe your business and it suggests names that are still available.
Do I need technical skills to connect my new custom domain?
No. If you buy the domain here, the DNS records are added for you. If it's registered somewhere else, you copy two records into your registrar's settings and click Validate Domain.
How long does it take to connect a domain I already own?
It goes live once the two DNS records you add take effect at your registrar. That's often within an hour, but DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to reach everyone.
Why do so many startups pick .ai domains?
Mostly because short names are still available. Most short .com names were registered years ago, and .ai tells people straight away that you build something with AI.
